Get your post listed on 24 sites in 10 minutes !Blogging is fun, you enjoy every minute of it. But there are some aspects you would really like to avoid, and yet they are a vital part of your strategy, like submitting to social bookmarking sites. Let’s face it without exposure there is no audience.

Search Engines do their part, but if you go that extra length and submit to social networks and bookmarking sites your visibility will significantly increase. In theory your readers should be the advocates and use the tools that you make available to submit your post to their favorite social network, but the truth is that the majority simply ignore them. The bottom line is that

personal value always precedes social value

You need these entries to gain visibility, and make you known within your community, especially if it’s a new blog. The problem is that submitting to social bookmarking sites is very time consuming, and you don’t have that extra time to sit around and type in your tags and description for each and every site you’d like to submit to. Here’s a short list procedure that can make things a lot faster and submit your post to 25 social bookmarking and network sites in just about 10 minutes:

The sites I have been submitting to (and have been driving traffic to my website) are:

  • Backflip
  • Blinklist
  • Blogmarks
  • Blogmemes
  • del.icio.us
  • Diigolet
  • Digg it!
  • Feedmelinks
  • Furl
  • Linkroll
  • Looklater
  • ma.gnolia
  • Mojo
  • Maple
  • Markaboo
  • Newsvine
  • Rawsugar
  • Reddit
  • Shadows
  • Simpy
  • Socialdust
  • Spurl!
  • Taggly
  • YAHOO! MyWeb
  • Wink

Here’s how to do it:

  • Prepare your post description and tags, paste them into your textpad

If there are no network problems or server downtime you’ll be finished in under 10 minutes. If you have any other great social network sites to share and add to the list please do drop a line !

I think I’m misunderstanding something here. Are you saying you do this 10 minute book marklet thing for every post you write? Or is this just something you do once in a while that increases your overall exposure? I think this is actually the first time I’ve seen the term “book marklet” so forgive my ignorance.

    Hi Carol,
like I sadi in the original post, if you want exposure you need to reach out for it – at least in teh beginning when your blog is a complete stranger to the blogosphere. So you need to do some healthy auto-promotion, that is bookmark your posts, so the answer to your question is yes I have done this and it has helped “spread the word” about my blog.

You’ll find others who claim that this is SPAM – in principle it should be others who bookmark your posts giving you visibility. I say that if nobody knows you exist it’s gonna be pretty difficult to get noticed, hence bookmarked.

Always do things in moderation and don’t exagerate, write great posts and you’ll see a community take shape before your eyes – it’s incredible to see how your blog grows in size and popularity – but you know these things I see you write lenghty and entertaining posts :)

    Sante
