Beginning of this week the agenda for SMX – Search Marketing Expo Sweden was finalized and I’ll be playing an active role moderating 2 panels and on the website tune up panel.

So let’s take a look at the panels I’ll be moderating …

Reputation Monitoring & Management Through Search

There is an ancient latin saying that goes:

verba volant, scripta manent

(Taken From GD65’s photo stream on Flickr)

which literally means "spoken words fly away, written words remain"

You never know who is talking behind your back and above all what they are saying … unless they are doing it on the web.

Online reputation management is a serious business:

  • What do people find when they search for you by name?
  • Is it negative?
  • If so, what do you do?
  • What can you do?

Depending on the situation, there are a range of tactics that may help. This session will provide options and explore possible solutions to a reputation management problem.

SEO & Blogging

Blogging has changed the way we produce and consume information. In a recent paper presented at the WWW 2007:

Determining the User Intent of Web Search Engine Queries

The research shows how 80% of all queries generated on the web are classified as informational – people searching for information. A blog is the ideal place for you to:

  • share your knowledge
  • interact with people
  • create a community
  • build your reputation as an authority

Blogging can help Search Engine Optimization efforts in many ways.

Blog posts are “syndicated”, meaning your content – and your links – spread across the web. There are also dedicated blog search engines with readers you might be missing.

If you’re not blogging. This session introduces you to blogging and the SEO advantages it offers.

Website TuneUp

This is the most challenging session – I never know what is going to be coming my way during the website tune up sessions.

There can be many reasons leading to poor website performance on the search engines, and in this session we’ll provide some insight on the dynamics of website positioning based on our experience.

If your web site isn’t as successful in search results as you’d like, come to this session and volunteer to have me and the others take a look at what’s wrong with your website, diagnose the problems, and offer concrete suggestions for improvement.

@bjoern

you are absolutely right :P I think we are born in the false country

I am currently working as marketing manager for social networks and in this case it would be interesting for me if I get the possibility to take part in a seo festival like the Search Marketing Expo

I always attend 1 industry SEO event yearly. I attended Search Engine Strategies NYC this March, but had thought about SMX. SMX cost a lot more so I scrapped that idead. Do you have any thoughts on which one is better?

… what can I say … many of the speakers are present in both conferences so I would tend to say that there really shouldn’t be all that much of a difference.
