Northern Light dates back to 1996 and was a search engine I would often use back then. I liked the unique combination of full text searching selected journals and business content, along with web pages: The user had an option to rely on information coming from the web or purchase a paper coming from a periodical. In 2002 Northern Light went offline, providing content to selected Clients in the corporate world, and is now back.
This is not a typical search engine you’ll use to find images, web pages or podcasts. Northern Light is useful to those seeking specific quality content in a number of fields.
All content is provided on a subscription basis – daily or monthly. What is interesting to a more general public is the white papers section where quality information is available for downbload free of charge.
Here is a definition of white paper.
