12 things I learned in 2009
2009 was a difficult year, especially for me and those living in L’Aquila. The earthquake was a life-changing experience, my view and perception of things was altered by the course of events following April 6th and – here’s what I’ll be taking with me into 2010:
- Nothing is impossible
- The impossible happens every day – it can happen to you too
- Everyday routines are enemies of the quality of life: we do too many things because we’re used to doing them, not because we need to
- Our lives are full of useless things that clutter every corner of our households. 80% of my things are still in my house struck by the earthquake and I don’t miss them
- Stay away from people who waste your time, it’s too precious
- Live you life one step at a time. Looking into the horizon is important but watching where you put your feet will keep you from falling
- Do good deeds and forget, do bad things and think …
- Stay away from people you don’t get along with – they ruin your existence and you don’t know how long you’re gonna exist
- Focus on the positive aspects of things and see what there is to be learned: being negative brings about pessimism which in turn generates pessimism
- Be grateful for the good times life offers
- Bare your sufferings with dignity, talk about them with friends and family
- Good is everywhere but evil makes headlines
Be strong, courageous, and determined in 2010 – all the best.

It’s true that you should stay away from the people who waste your time. You just have to take what you love and leave what you don’t!

Hmm pretty good list. 2009 has been an eventful year for me as well. Good to hear you’re doing well with only 20% of your stuff. All the best with the ‘recovering period’ though.
